Em's Card and Envelope...

If you read my last post, you may recall that there was another birthday on the horizon... my gorgeous daughter in law Emma...and so this is the card and envelope that is making its ways to Queensland as I write :))

The background is cut from a piece of 'airmail' patterned paper... a scallop and postage stamp added to the top....

I then stamped this stamp from the Paperbag Studio range with black archival ink and drew in two red circles to mark the date... and stenciled in some gesso...

added one of these sweet Photobooth images... along with some layering...

and decided to embellish the envelope as well...because it was going inside the parcel with her gift, I used the faux postage stamp again... stamped her name and added some paper lace...

a little more patterned paper and another lovely image... Happy Birthday Em... btw Nat loved her card... thank you so much for your beautiful comments... and happy stamping :))

A Card and Envelope.....

It is my daughter Natalie's birthday on Friday... we celebrated as a family last weekend but we are having lunch together on her actual birthday and I wanted to make a special card to give her on the day...

I began by cutting a piece of water color paper slightly smaller than the card and stamping 'Italian Words' over the entire surface with Stazon Saddle Brown... and then washed the card with some water color paint... and splattered with a little black... once it was dry I lightly sponged on some gesso... and stenciled some brown pan pastel but you could just as easily use paint...
I covered a small tag with this pretty picture from here... and with double sided tape, added part of a paper doily, a scallop scrap and the tag with some ribbon tied through the top... I found the number 11 in my stash.... so added that because her birthday this year is 11-11-11...

And then because I had left over paint sitting in my palette... I splashed some onto an envelope... after stamping the 'Italian Words' once again... and stamped her name with black archival ink...

Because I was handing this to her in person, I thought it would be nice to use this cute inchie faux postage stamp from the Queen's Dresser Drawers collection... stamped with distress peeled paint...

and from the same image sheet, cut the smaller girl out to pop onto the envelope as well... I love my water colors... they are a great way to add some color... and needn't be expensive... these ones are from Big W... Micador... 12 tubes for $7.50... and they are great used over permanent inks like stazon and archival... it is my lovely daughter in law's birthday next week so I had better get busy... now I only hope that Natalie likes this one :)))

A Photo Keeper...

These 'Collections' Photo Keepers are fabulous...

They come with binding fabric and full instructions...

and are simple to put together... I covered the front with scrapbook paper and added some embellishments... the 'Collections' words make wonderful additions too...

I added a quote to the inside and one of my drawings... but I was thinking how fabulous they would be to add to Christmas cards... with a family pic inside... they are the perfect size for your handbag if you want to pop a photo of the kids or grandkids in there... and they would even make a lovely gift for teachers... with perhaps your little one's art work or photo inside... I just know I will be making more of these... I love them :))

A birthday card for a special man.....

It was my hubby's birthday today... and so I was thrilled to receive this Queen's Dresser Drawers stamp to create something special for him... I began by brushing the background with gesso, splattering with brown paint and stitching around the outside... I stamped the image with black StazOn ink and colored with distress scattered straw and vintage photo using the blending brush... and I was pretty chuffed when I opened my book of vintage music paper to find 'For He's A Jolly Good Fella' peeking backing at me... a perfect addition :))

Whenever the grandies ask how old he is... the answer is always the same... '29' lol... so I had to include that... along with some birthday bunting...

and finished off with a small piece of scrapbook paper, a button, ticket and twine... and he loved it:))... Happy Birthday Honey...

Vintage Love

I have made another ATC this week, but have gone with a vintage romantic feel.

My feature stamp this week is 'holding hands' by Paperbag Studios, which is still available at The Stamping Queen. I only used the top portion of it on the ATC, and stamped it in Walnut Stain DI. I had stamped the tree first so I knew just where to position the couple.

The paper is patterned underneath to add more interest to the background - a little distressing and a little sewing. I found the quote on the internet and thought it went just lovely with the image.

Mirror Mirror....

I am back this week with a fun ATC for you all, featuring none other than 'Head' from Stampotique. You can find a range of Stampotique characters over in the TSQ shop here.

I created a fun wallpaper type background with some white cardstock and some distress inks. I did use the floral background stamp from Darkroom Door and clear embossing ink to get the print effect on the wallpaper.

I made the frame out of some black cardstock, the mirror was a piece of scrap grey cardstock, and I used a piece of plastic/acetate from some stamp packaging I had stored in the garage to get a bit of a reflection effect.

Head was stamped and cut out, coloured with distress ink, and trimmed to fit in the framed mirror. Some Sam & Lucy alpha stickers, black brad, black thread and a little black edging finished off the ATC.

A date with an owl

I had so much fun creating this 'date' tag... I used the Tiny Owl stamp from Catslife Press, and had a play with the word 'owl' for a title for my tag - "Owl be waiting".

Some bright papers, some ledger paper to provide space to fill in the date details, some fun fonts and quotes, a few rubons, a little piece of happy ribbon, and a little stitching complete this fun tag.

Look closer at the little owl bodies - I have paper pieced his chest area and popped the bottom part up with half glue dots.

I'd love to hear if you've been inspired to try your hand at a 'date tag' to give to someone special :)

A Card for Him... with the Queen...

I have been wanting to work with a kraft/black/white colour combo for a while, and I thought a mans card would be a great way to easily integrate these colours, though the design of the card itself would lend itself to any number of colour schemes, for any number of purposes.

I have combined two images from Queen's Dresser Drawers - Titanic and Mr Handsome, which have been stamped in black archival ink on some kraft cardstock which I cut into tags. I edged them with a little frayed burlap distress ink, before dragging a black ink pad around the edges. A little black stitching was added for a little texture.

The greeting 'wish' is Collections Elements strip words in kraft, which I have just edged with a white gel pen to set it off from the background.

All of this is mounted on a layer of white cardstock which has had scraps of patterned paper sewn on with cream thread. I have attached this to a base layer of kraft, and tied some chunky natural and black jute string around it to finish.

A Card or Three...

I love being at home on cold rainy winter days and playing with art supplies... it is high on my list of fabulous things to do :)) and so I spent some time creating cards this afternoon... bought a new embossing folder for my cuttlebug at the craft show last weekend and thought it would be nice to compliment this 'Three Generations' stamp which I stamped onto some book paper and cut out... swiped my distress ink in tattered rose over the top and around the edges...

added some lace, stitching, inked paper doily and some words with my archival ink...

And then moved onto these... I have only just realized that the biggest picture in these gorgeous sheets is exactly the same size as a postcard... and so I created two :)) I already have a postcard stamp at home but if you don't, you can find them free to print off from the net... once again added some stitching and some paper, lace and buttons...

and then on the back I stamped again with the 'Three Generations' stamp and 'The Bobbies' which I think is out of stock at the moment... using distress broken china and stazon blazing red...

added some quotes and inked around the outside with distress vintage photo...

A quartet of women

I'm not sure what happened with these ATC's - I was inspired by cream and red and ended up with these... sometimes you just have to let the creativity take over!

I have used a set of Inchies stamps by Queens Dresser Drawers (Women II) to create the images. I diecut the squares to ensure they were all the same size, stamped with black archival ink, and edged with walnut stain distress ink to age them.

I began with Kraft cardstock, and covered all or parts with some Carolees Creations paper. Any gaps were stamped with Paperbag Studios 'hole punched' stamp so there was no blank space. The edges were distressed, and most layers were sewn with either straight or zig zag stitching.

I dug around and found some fabric scraps and old buttons to incorporate, as well as bits of lace and trim.

Most of the layers, again, were sewn on.

The crown tags were a freebie from the internet, cut out and inked with distress inks to age them.

The kraft words are courtesy of Collections Elements strip words - these are great value for money and so easy to use :)

I'm not sure whether to class these as shabby or vintage, or a little of both.

Behind the Door...

There is no denying that I LOVE doors... I collect pictures of them, take photos of them and love to use them in my art journal pages and now it appears on cards... when I saw this "Little Door' photo stamp by Darkroom Door in Barb's shop, I knew I had to have it...lol

I began by stamping the door onto a piece of patterned script paper with my embossing ink, sprinkling on fine black embossing powder and heating... Used my blending tool and distress tea dye ink to add some color to the edges and a brad for the door handle...

I then cut out the semi circle at the top and glued firstly a thin piece of mica inside and then the image behind that... stitched randomly over the piece and added a quote from Emily Dickinson, scrap of fabric, a postage stamp and the number 9... once the front was finished, I used double sided tape to adhere it to the card... just know this stamp is going to be well used in my journal pages too :))

Sweet Images.....

I love sweet images... they are always a wonderful source of inspiration for me.... I began this ATC with a freebie postcard background.... stamped the edge with the Paperbag Studio 'segment' stamp and the postage stamps with my well used 'Boston Postmark' .....

Added some fabric, lace, button, paper and random stitching as embellishments and this gorgeous image as my focal point... and finished my ATC with some vintage book text and a letter...
And because the image sheets come with a variety of sizes, I was able to use another one from the same sheet to create a pendant... the memory frames are quick and easy to create and I have a nice little collection now which I love wearing... I used the glass size as a template for tracing around and cut out two images... added some vintage book text and then used a glue stick to adhere the two image backs together... encase your images within the two pieces of glass....
You will notice the little clip on the top right hand side of this pendant pic... you simply unclip and the pendant opens up which allows you to pop your glassed images inside... reclip and you are done... I normally add a jump ring so that the pendant sits nicely on the chain... how sweet is this pretty image ..... I love that the pendant is reversible... a two in one... and they really do look lovely on... Waiting on the postman today... have just ordered the July and August copies of the 'Craft Stamper' magazine... it is definitely a fave with so many wonderful projects...

A Bag of Tags...

I fell in love with this stamp as soon as I saw it... Fred loves Lottie... an 'Art Declassifed' stamp that you can find here.... it stamped beautifully onto fabric with my archival ink pad.... the bag is basic.... I did my stamping, stitching and writing before I sewed up the outside.... then turned over the top and stitched again....

I stitched the tags as well... stamped my image and stamped the word 'love' with foam stamps and red paint... added some fabric trim, a paper heart and some ribbon....

and a little book text on the bag and on each of the tags....

A fun little project that would make a sweet gift as well...

Double tag with Paperbag Studios

This week I have a bit of an arty tag to share with you all.

I was so happy with the 'serie C' stamp from Paperbag Studios (That is the torn tag image with the lady on it) when I discovered it was a perfect fit for a #8 shipping tag....

I had loads of fun inky these tags (and my fingers!) with random stampings of the 'serie C' stamp, as well as 'dots' and 'hole punched' from Paperbag Studios. The little pearls are from Kaisercraft, and The Stamping Queen carries a good range of them here.

Gift Wrapping Ideas with Paperbag Studios

Hi and welcome back for some quick gift wrapping ideas this week, using rubber stamping. Don't be afraid to keep things clean and simple when wrapping - and try using some things to wrap with that you may not normally use - it adds a little more love to your gift! These gifts were all wrapped in brown paper, used twine or ribbon, some hessian, and a stamp by Paperbag Studios called 'flower bud'. Also, be creative with your stamping - here I have used the stamp in its original shape on cardstock, punched into a circle shape, and stamping direct to the wrapping paper.

Just 'For You'

It has been a while, but I am back with another project to share with you all.

A little slice of shabby chic to start your week :) I have used two fantastic images from Paperbag Studios on this card. The 'flower bud' image has been stamped in tattered rose DI on a section of the background, and 'series c' (this is the tag/lady image) has been stamped in black archival on MME Bella Bella paper. I gave it a little definition by restamping a section on different paper, as well as distressing the edges and lightly inking with pumice stone DI.

Going on a journey..... with Fiona

So have you all come back this week to see what I've been up to with that fabulous Tiny Daisy stamp from Paperbag Studios (available here)? Well, here it is - I've used it to create my own 'patterned' paper :) I first used the Journal Impressions circles (also by Paperbag Studios) stamped in weathered wood DI, then overstamped those with the Tiny Daisy in black archival ink.

This was pretty easy to do - I used a white gel pen and a black artline to add detail and depth as well. What other fabulous items can you spot here? That beautiful butterfly is from a little sheet of Tim Holtz doo-dads wings & things 2 available here. The word 'journey' is from Collections Elements strip words (available here). Finally, the all important rhinestones from Kaisercraft - you can find a range of colours here.

Celebrate an Anniversary with Fiona

I tried to focus a little fun and frivolity into this anniversary card....

The images and hats are the real focus here, and they came from a small sheet of Tim Holtz Doo-Dads, and this one is called Wings & Things 2, and you can find it in the paper section of the store. Hiding in the background is a grunge alphabet stamp by Paperbag Studios, to create texture and depth. Paper Bag Studios is becoming a favourite stamp company of mine, and you can check out the available range here.

Also cutting a swathing edge through this card is multiple tiny daisy stamped images, also by Paperbag Studios. Did I mention I like their stamps?? And don't forget the all important Kaisercraft rhinestones, which you can find right here.

A little vintage card with Jenny...

Hi everyone.... wanted to share this card with you....

Using some vintage look patterned paper for the card, I cut the chipboard bracket shape in half to give some dimension to this sweet angelic image.... a gorgeous range of images including this one are available here....

stamped with the 'Love Definition' stamp....

and the 'Boston Post Mark' stamp.... one of my very faves... I love to use postage stamps in my work so this stamp is well used...lol... both stamps are from the Catslife Press Range.... oh did you notice the word 'Love' on the stamp too :)))

and added some lace, buttons and a little inked and stamped tag....

I have turned the bright and funky tables to a more subtle vintage look with this week's project.

I have taken some Collections Elements bracket shapes which are available here, and combined them with some beautiful Basic Grey papers, a Bind-It-All machine and some embellishments to make this lovely little notebook.

The tag that is subtly hiding behind the other embellishments, is stamped with the Tiny Daisy stamp by Paperbag Studios available here - if you look closely you will see the petals popping out of the trims. Kraft is a great colour which works so well as a neutral with many other colours, and the word 'reflection' is from a set of strip words by Collections Elements also available here.

And it never hurts to add a little bling to your project - Kaisercraft rhinestones are also available at The Stamping Queen right here.

Christmas comes early with Fiona

Welcome to a fun early Christmas post brought to you courtesy of The Stamping Queen! I decided to get a kick-start on my Christmas tags with this fun project ;)

Do you have a quirky passion for the fun stamps by Stampotique? There are a range of them available right here in Australia at The Stamping Queen right here. I used 'Mort had a Pin Curl' as my santa-like subject on my card.

Those fabulous black circles are from a set called 'Journal Impressions' from Paperbag Studios - there are loads of great Paperbag Studios stamps found here in the store as well :) This set of stamps is officially my new favourite set of stamps in my stash!

I've had fun today!

I've finally found some time today to have a play!
This is what I've done

I love this stamp from Queen's Dresser Drawers! The gauze is left overs from my dental visits last year, where I'm sure the dentist took pleasure in ripping some of my teeth out! (Note: unusued gauze!)
The piece of Tape Measure is from TSQ, and I'm sure there's only 2 pieces left. It's not on the store at the moment, but will be in the next couple of days.

I like this little gift card that I made using the cute stamps from the current issue of Craft Stamper Magazine. We have some issues from March and May still available. We had a "backwards" delivery last week with the May magazine turning up before the April issue! The April issue will be in the store tomorrow. This one has a really nice butterfly stamp FOR FREE!! You've got to love free stamps.

We hope you have a lovely Easter and the Easter Bunny doesn't leave any pellets in your carpet when he does his chocolate delivery.
